The Winnipeg Monarchs played in the Western Canada Hockey League under three different team names from 1976-77 at the Junior A level. They were first the Jets (67-73), then the Clubs (73-76) and finally the Monarchs (76-77). When a professional club was formed in 1972, using the name Winnipeg Jets, the Junior Team changed their name to the Clubs the following season to disassociate themselves from the senior team. In 1977, the Monarchs were moved to Calgary and became the Calgary Wranglers.
