Thirty years ago, some of the best American hockey players of all time won the World Cup of Hockey, with 6 wins and 1 overtime loss in the round robin. Coached by Ron Wilson, the team went undefeated in pool play and knocked out Russia in the first round of the playoff tournament. In the final, the team had a three-game set against Canada. After losing Game 1 in Philly, Team USA won twice in Montreal to take the title back to the States! This team was a who’s who of USA Hockey history, with the Hatcher brothers, Brett Hull, Tony Amonte, Brian Leetch, John LeClair, Mike Modano, Pat LaFontaine and so many others.
